Setting up your rotation

Open Schedule, then Set a pattern. Pick the shape you work, then tap the real date your next run of shifts starts. Stint works out where you are in the cycle from that, and fills every week from there on. You can change any single day afterwards by tapping it.

If no preset matches, choose Build my own and tap each day to cycle it between off, day and night. A cycle can be any length up to 28 days, so a 12-day or 21-day rota works.

Overnight shifts

A shift whose end time is earlier than its start time is treated as crossing midnight, and Stint draws it as one continuous block rather than two halves. You never need to enter a night shift twice.

Why did it say no?

Open Settings › How Stint decides. It prints the seven rules in the exact order the app runs them, and the first rule that matches is the answer. Nothing is hidden and nothing is learned about you: every verdict is arithmetic you can check.

Recovery days

The first day after a run of night shifts is marked Recovering, not free, because you come off shift that morning and sleep through the day. If your own recovery is shorter or longer, change Sleep after a night shift in Settings. Your correction always wins over Stint's assumption.

Shift alerts are not arriving

  1. Open Settings › Shift alerts and check the switch is on. If iOS has refused notification permission, the switch turns itself off and offers a link into iOS Settings.
  2. In iOS Settings › Notifications › Stint, make sure Allow Notifications is on and Time Sensitive is allowed, so a Focus or Sleep schedule cannot silence a shift alert.
  3. Alerts are scheduled on the device. If you have just changed your rota, open Stint once so it can reschedule.

The widget is out of date

Stint refreshes its widget on every edit. If it is still stale, remove the widget and add it again. Widgets on iOS are refreshed by the system on its own budget, so a few minutes of lag can happen.

Apple Watch

Open Stint on the iPhone once while the watch is paired and nearby. The watch keeps its own copy after that and works without the phone.

Sending your shifts to Apple Calendar

Settings › Let your family see it › Send to Calendar. Stint writes only into a calendar it creates called Stint, and never touches your existing events. Remove deletes those events and nothing else.

Sync across devices

Optional. Stint works completely offline with no account at all. Signing in with Apple syncs one private snapshot of your schedule to your other devices. Sleep measured from the Health app is never included in that sync: it stays on the device that read it.

Languages

Stint is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Hindi, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Thai, Filipino and Uzbek. It follows your iPhone's language automatically.

Deleting your data

Settings › Erase all my data removes your pattern, shifts, plans, rates and sleep hours from the device and from any sync. If you have an account, Delete account removes the account and the stored snapshot with it.

Privacy

Stint stores everything on your phone. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics, and no third-party code in the app. Full details in the privacy policy.
